International QEEG Certification Board

Certification pathway

Earn your IQCB credential

Each credential is earned through examination, not participation, attendance, or continuing education hours alone. Here is everything you need to begin.

Three credentials, one standard

Choose the credential that fits your background

All three IQCB credentials require passing the same proctored examination. The differences are in educational prerequisites and whether active professional licensure is included in the credential.

Step-by-step pathway

How to earn your credential

Complete these five steps in order. The pathway is the same for all three credential levels, with variations in educational prerequisites.

1

Create your Certemy account

Create an account on Certemy, the platform IQCB uses to manage applications, track requirements, and process exam eligibility. This is where you will submit your application and documentation. Your IQCB member account is created separately by IQCB staff once your application has been reviewed and approved; you do not need to register on the IQCB website to begin.

2

Complete approved didactic training

Attend a 40-hour didactic qEEG course from an IQCB-approved provider. The course must cover all nine competency domains in the Blueprint of Knowledge: history, neuroscience, technical acquisition, conventional EEG, quantitative EEG, psychopharmacology, research methods, ethics, and clinical and forensic practice.

3

Gain supervised clinical experience

A minimum of one year of supervised clinical practice is strongly recommended before sitting for the examination. The exam is designed to assess the interpretive fluency that comes only from working with real patient data under qualified supervision, not classroom knowledge alone.

4

Complete mentorship requirements

Complete a minimum of ten contact hours with a certified IQCB Diplomate. Mentorship must include review of at least ten patient data analyses and five formal QEEG report presentations. Two of these hours must involve direct observation of your work. Your mentor must be a current IQCB certificant in active clinical practice for at least two years.

You may use more than one mentor. Long-distance mentoring via phone or video, including live screen sharing for direct observation, is acceptable.

5

Pass the examination

Submit your application through Certemy. Once eligibility is confirmed, schedule your examination at your convenience: the exam is available online, proctored, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A Study Guide is available through the IQCB website. The passing score is 70%.

Ready to begin

Start your application

Applications are processed through the Certemy platform. Create your Certemy account, select your credential level, and upload documentation of your educational background and approved training. Your IQCB account is created by our staff upon approval, so no prior IQCB registration is needed.

Note: The application fee is collected through Certemy at the time of submission. Mentoring fees, if applicable, are set by individual mentors and are separate from IQCB fees.
